Question
Read the passage from "The Cherry Tree." Even as her roots spread and grew deeper, she felt an urge to grow upward, to see the light of the sun once again. She sent out a green shoot, pushing with all her might just above the surface of the ground Her stem stretched more and more , and, days later, she began to grow tiny leaves. The seed had become a little cherry plant. As the young cherry plant changed shape, she sometimes felt sad, missing the tiny seed she once was, but more often, she felt the urge to grow, to become something new. One theme of the passage might be that growing up is challenging and requires effort. Which is another possible theme? It is typical for growing up to be difficult. It is normal to have mixed feelings about growing up. The young are innocent until they experience difficulty. Becoming strong takes lots of hard work.
