Answer

Fertilized

Explain

## Step 1:
Ovulation is the process where an ovum or egg is released by the ovaries. If this egg gets fertilized, it attaches itself to the lining of the uterus and begins the process of development into an embryo.

## Step 2:
If the egg, however, is not fertilized, the lined uterus, which had developed in preparation for the possible pregnancy, is not needed anymore.

## Step 3:
The body then initiates the process of sloughing off and letting go of the lining, in form of a menstrual flow. This process is also known as menstruating or getting one's period.

### So the answer drawn from the above steps is the uterine lining will be shed if the egg released during Ovulation is not 'Fertilized'
