Answer

B. DNA would not duplicate, D. Body tissues would not repair themselves, E. The production of gametes would not occur, F. Cancer would not occur.

Explain
1. If a cell undergoes the cell cycle without mitosis, it would not be able to duplicate DNA correctly (B). Mitosis is an essential part of the cell cycle in which chromosomes in a cell are duplicated; without mitosis duplication would not happen, causing many problems if the cell would need to divide.
2. In the process of healing, body tissues repair themselves mostly through cell division and differentiation taking place in the mitosis phase (D). If the cells do not undergo mitosis, they actually cannot divide and replace the damaged cells or tissues, leading to the collapse of this repair mechanism.
3. In sexual reproduction specifically, the production of gametes takes place through a special type of cell division known as meiosis which is not possible without also undergoing mitosis first (E). In the meiosis phase, the cell needs to duplicate once to produce enough genetic material to have four daughter cells each identical to the parent’s. Therefore, if mitosis does not occur properly, the meiosis process will also be impaired leading to dysfunctional gamete production.
4. Lastly about Cancer, it is more related with uncontrollable cellular multiplication by defective mitotic phases (F). Although commonly understood as abnormal cell multiplication leading to a body tumor, we can assert that this detrimental event would not incur without a ruleless mitotic duplication to escalate. If mitosis does not happen, it means replication of cells does not happen which means an uncontrolled increase of cells does not occur.
Remember, this is called cancer. So, if mitosis could not appear, we could affirm that cancer would not achieve.
