Answer

Open

Explain

Stomata are tiny openings or pores, mainly located on the underside of leaves. They are responsible for exchanging gases and water vapor between the plant and the surrounding atmosphere. The size of the stomatal pore is controlled by two specialized parenchyma cells known as guard cells. When these guard cells are filled with water and become turgid, they change their shape, leading to the opening of the stomata. The pore gets closed when the guard cells lose water and become flaccid. The opening and closing of the stomata have significant roles in the process of photosynthesis and transpiration.
