<p> Hersey and Blanchard's (1969) Situational Leadership theory explores the leader's task and relationship behaviours in the workplace. The model describes four fundamental leadership styles: <br />1. Participating: The leader shares decision-making with the group. Colleagues have more influence during this process, leader fosters collegues'/ team members' skills, therefore allowing the employees in the decision-making processes.<br />2. Selling: During offering their guidance and helping in methods enhancements, the leader is still responsible for decisions to be made but they had communicated and made that understandable with the assistance from others inside the business.<br />3. Delegating: Here, Leader assigns decision-making and process-improving initial credibility to the respective subordinates. As your team member matures and becomes more competent, they require less of your assistive style of leadership and more of your delegating style.<br />4. Telling: This method involves the command by the leader, very directive and autocratative and thus, clear instructions and close supervision, etc are exercised here.<br /><br />But, the 'Tailing Style' is not a leadership style according to Hersey & Blanchard, nor does it relates to any context of situational leadership generally. The correct leadership style may have been intended to be the 'Telling Style', which is a major element to this theory.</p>
