Answer

D

Explain

In an experiment or investigation there are typically three types of variables: independent, dependent, and controlled.

- Independent variable: The variable you have control over, what you can choose and manipulate. It is usually what you think will affect the dependent variable.

- Dependent variable: The variable you observe or measure. The result that you are trying to achieve is this. This variable depends on the independent variable (hence the term dependent variable).

- Controlled variables: These are all other variables that may affect the dependent variable. It is necessary to 'control' these so they can't influence the results. This allows for a fair test and makes sure that it is only the independent variable affecting the dependent variable.
