Explain

Meiotic cell division, or meiosis, is a process where a single cell divides twice to produce four cells containing half the original amount of genetic information. These cells are our sex cells – sperm in males, eggs in females. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, totaling to 46. When meiosis happens, these chromosomes gets divided in half, Thus the cells produced after meiosis end up with only 23 individual chromosomes.
